New Games in the Works
New Games in Development
The purpose of this post is to get feedback on how people might feel if I released adult content.
So I know I’ve been pretty quiet after releasing House in Hellworld last year. I’ve been doing some rough planning for projects in the same world: “Ghost Street: Dullahan”, the direct sequel to “House in Hellworld” and another project with the working title of “Spooky Date”. Both projects are a lot more ambitious than “House in Hellworld”.
Ghost Street is to involve a mechanic that involves crafting new ideas from existing information, and I suspect that I might need to either change my engine for that or knuckle down to do some coding within Python. If I decide to change my engine I’ll probably re-create “House in Hellworld” with it first for practice. It is a direct sequel to House however – picking up with the same protagonist only a few days later. My goal is to allow the player to flesh out the protagonist while they are tasked to befriend a Dullahan.
Now one of the reasons for this update has to do with Spooky Date, because I’ve done about a month’s work prototyping it and because it’s still using Ren’py so it will be done faster. The catch? The catch is Spooky Date is going to be a NSFW reverse faerie dating sim. I’m well aware that not everyone might be too interested in that, which is why I’m bringing it up here.
On the other hand, a NSFW reverse faerie dating sim might be just the niche for me to raise a little cash, since “House in Hellworld” was released for free as part of a September game jam.
The plot of ”Spooky Date” is that you have contracted a sexually transmitted curse due to having slept around with a number of faeries, and need to figure out who cursed you and how to cure it before it kills you. It’s a “reverse dating sim” because during the flashbacks, instead of the player character attempting to seduce the faeries, it’s the faeries trying to seduce you. You can submit immediately or resist their charms, but it’s a forgone conclusion that you will eventually succumb and your explanation for the events that occurred is how you build your character. Chapter Two involves revisiting the various faeries to try to convince them to assist you, and Chapter Three is curing your curse. The longer you resist, the more lore you can learn but it’s my plan to make any playthrough survivable.
My current plan is to release Spooky Date on a secondary, adult-oriented Itcho.io account. But here’s the question: How would you feel about that?
Release Spooky Date on a secondary account.
Once the account is set up I’ll post a link and you can check it out when ready. If you like the idea of me creating spicy content, let me know.
Focus on Ghost Street instead.
If you really don’t like the idea of my creating adult content, I’ll focus on Ghost Street instead, starting with a point-and-click version of “House in Hellworld”. However to be perfectly honest my tip jar’s been gathering dust so I’ll be weighing that option based on donations.
